New generation PCF 10 – improved reliability and advanced features
New generation of the PCF 10 fuse-switch disconnector, redesigned to provide reliable protection, safe circuit isolation and more efficient automated production. The redesign brings an optimised construction, improved materials, additional functionalities and a higher level of product quality and reliability.
PCF 10 is a modular low-voltage fuse-switch disconnector designed for use with CH 10 cylindrical fuse-links. It is suitable for distribution boards in residential and commercial buildings, industrial systems and other applications where safe circuit isolation and reliable protection against overloads and short circuits are required.
Designed for automated production
One of the key improvements of the new generation is its adaptation to fully automated assembly. The new production line enables process control of individual operations and components, helping to ensure highly repeatable assembly.
Automation contributes to improved production process traceability, more consistent quality and increased production capacity. The line has a capacity of approximately 5,000 poles per shift.
Improved materials and higher temperature resistance
The redesign also included the optimisation of materials used for key plastic components.
The latch material has been replaced with Lexan 943A polycarbonate, which successfully passes the Glow Wire Test at 960 °C. The latch has also been structurally improved, harmonised with other ETI products and adapted for automated assembly.
The drawer material has been changed to PA66 GF30, providing suitable mechanical and thermal properties while enabling further material standardisation across the product range.
Optimised construction
The new generation of PCF 10 includes several construction improvements designed to simplify production, assembly and use:
- optimised housing and cover for more reliable ultrasonic welding,
- front design of the drawer harmonised with the EFD product family,
- additional protection of the N terminal in versions without an N pole, reducing the possibility of incorrect connection,
- engraved N marking directly on the product,
- new plastic connecting elements for assembling multi-pole versions,
- a more compact and user-friendly modular design.
Upgraded fuse-link status indication
An important new feature is the upgraded LED indication of fuse-link operation.
The new design also allows the installation of an IR receiver, enabling information about fuse-link operation to be transmitted remotely. This functionality makes it easier to monitor the status of protective devices and opens up additional possibilities for use in modern monitored electrical systems.
Certified for global markets
The redesigned PCF 10 complies with the requirements of relevant IEC and UL standards. As part of the redesign, the UL certification was updated and a new UL certificate for applications up to 1250 V DC was obtained.
Additional testing according to the CCA/CB procedure further confirms compliance with requirements for use across different international markets.
Greater reliability in the new generation
By combining an optimised construction, improved materials, automated production and additional functionalities, the new generation of PCF 10 provides a high level of reliability, consistent quality and greater flexibility for a wide range of applications.
The redesigned PCF 10 represents an important step forward in the development of ETI's range of cylindrical fuse protection solutions and fuse-switch disconnectors, while providing a strong foundation for further expansion in global markets.
